About IFC
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette proudly represents nine fraternities, each distinguished by its name, history, and commitment to excellence. Our council promotes the core values of our fraternities: academic excellence, diversity, equity, inclusion, civic engagement, personal and professional development, and health and wellness. Our mission is to cultivate selfless, diverse leaders among our members.
On any given day, you will find IFC members actively engaged across campus. They serve as leaders in the Student Government Association, coordinate events for the Big Event, plan special activities for the University Program Council, and hold leadership positions in various other on-campus organizations.
While our fraternities offer numerous opportunities for service and leadership, our primary goal is to help individuals become the best versions of themselves. We aim to equip them with the tools they need to improve the community. In today’s culture, where young men face new and difficult challenges, the bond of fraternity provides essential encouragement and support.
Purpose of IFC
The purpose of the IFC is to promote unity, cooperation, leadership, scholarship, service, and philanthropy among our member organizations, fellow Greek governing councils, UL Lafayette, and the Lafayette community.
The NIC Creed
We, the Interfraternity Council, exist to promote the shared interests and values of our member fraternities: leadership, service, brotherhood, and scholarship. We believe in the power of Fraternity and that these shared values drive the IFC to create better communities, stronger chapters, and better men.
Our objectives include advancing the academic mission of the host institution, enabling fraternal organizations to grow and thrive through collaboration and teamwork, providing an outlet for self-governance and accountability, and modeling and teaching ethical leadership. In a spirit of mutual support and betterment, we, the men of the Interfraternity Council, pledge to uphold the Ritual and values of our member organizations.
